Charles Maher, Dauphin of Viennois. Heir apparent to House Maher and The Kingdom of Aquitaine. The first born son of King William XX of Aquitaine and Bortei Sasan, a Steppe Nomad from the Fringes of Rus’skaya, Dauphin Charles was raised with a primarily military education under the tutelage of The quartermasters of Chateau Lefleur alongside Messire O Deoradhain McCarthy, The future captain of the 2nd Brotherhood of The Emerald Guard. By his 21st birthday, Charles was engaged to lady Alexandria Jeffers of Albion, Cousin to Emperor Nikolas VI of The Empire of Mankind. Together, their union produced Princess Melaina Maher Duchesse d’Orleans, Princess Erika Maher Duchesse de Valois, and Princess Emily Maher Duchesse de Bourbon. Although a proven commander in the service to the armies of House Maher and The Kingdom of Aquitaine, Dauphin Charles is most highly regarded for his exceptional skill in hand to hand combat as well as his iron resolve in unfavourable odds and no win scenarios.

A repost of an illustration of a knight of House Maher of Aquitaine being knocked off his horse by a boyar cavalryman of House Maev of Rus’skaya. Now updated to include the latest edition of the escutcheon I designed for my family and I on the knight’s surcoat. Made to commemorate the crushing victory of House Maev over the Mahers in the last Aquitainian invasion of Rus’skaya, and as a nod by House Maher to the skill and prowess of the aristocratic cavalrymen of Rus’skaya, considered by the knights of Aquitaine to be one of their few equals in both joust and duel. This piece has been dubbed “The Hubris of the Mahers” to reflect the clash between the courtly, elegant, and refined culture of the Kingdom of Aquitaine with the hardy, resilient, and rugged culture of the Tsardom of Rus’skaya.

A repost of some illustrations of pikemen and musketeers I edited to feature the colours and the latest edition of the escutcheon I designed for my family and I. Now updated to include some minor, but noticeable retouches to the details on their clothing and armour. Artwork for a creative project of my design that takes place in a low fantasy setting with technology equivalent to the late medieval and renaissance periods. Where formations of mounted and armoured knights are fighting alongside armies of pikemen and matchlock musketeers. In context to the lore of my creative project, House Maher is the ruling family of The Kingdom of Aquitaine, or my creative project’s rough equivalent to The Kingdom of France during the medieval and ancien regime periods.

Messire O Deoradhain McCarthy, Captain of the Second brotherhood of the Emerald Guard, an elite secular knightly order in the world of my creative project founded to be the personal bodyguard of The Maher Kings of Aquitaine and those of their family. Organized into 5 units of one hundred knights known as “brotherhoods” (Aquitainian: les fraternités) and a mostly heritary knightly order, The 2nd brotherhood of Emerald Guard holds a special place in the order and by extension all the Knights of Aquitaine as the Personal Champions, Executioners and Headhunters of the Maher Kings of Aquitaine, this unique honour within the order is reflected in their destinctive escutcheon in the form of a blood red and snow white variant of the Maher Fleur-de-lis, and their brotherhood’s nickname “The Scourge of Aquitaine” (Aquitainian: Le Fléau d’Aquitaine) or more colloquially “O’Deoradhain’s Devils.” In regard’s to the personal character of O’Deoradhain McCarthy, as captain of the most elite company of the Emerald Guard, and descended from a long pedigree of Knights that directly descend from the personal bodyguard of King William IV of House Maher of Aquitaine, the founder of this prestigious knightly order. O’Deoradhain McCarthy is regarded by many accross The Kingdom of Aquitaine and beyond as both one of the deadliest warriors to currently draw breath, as well as one of the deadliest to ever walk the Earth. A reputation that is contested and disputed with Sir Matt Leeming, Lord of Evesham and personal Champion to King Robert IV of House Moore of Albion. Although I am personally a devoted fan of the Star Trek Franchise, the design behind this knight was directly inspired by that of Boba Fett from Star Wars and thus intended to be at least in part, a gift to my friend O’Deoradhain McCarthy.
